There are a variety of ways to stay connected to the education abroad community here at MSU and beyond. We encourage you to share your experience by Telling your Story and entering our Photo Contest as soon as your return.

Additionally, start thinking about participating in MSU's Annual Learning Abroad Conference. It's a great way to gain experience speaking to a larger audience; and for undergraduates, may be a great way to begin building your My Spartan Story, MSU’s new interactive platform that aims to capture experiences that complement your academic course of study.

If you'd like to get more involved, consider applying to the Peer Adviser Program to help prospective students find a program that suits their schedule, major and interests. Peer Advisers guide students through the application process, answer questions about scholarships and financial aid, and offer a student perspective on the various aspects of being abroad and returning home.

The American Semester Program and Exchanges also encourages education abroad participants to volunteer and work with them through the ASP Steward and Ambassador Program that welcomes international students to East Lansing.

PEACE CORPS

As the preeminent international service organization of the United States, the Peace Corps sends Americans abroad to tackle the most pressing needs of people around the world. Peace Corps volunteers work with communities abroad to enact sustainable change that lives on long after their service – becoming global citizens in the process. They return home with a global outlook that enriches the lives of those around them.

The Peace Corps is an excellent opportunity for graduating students considering other international experiences or beginning international careers.

Michigan State University provides resources to students to become strong candidates for the Peace Corps, housing an MSU Peace Corps Recruitment Office in the International Center. Recruiters can provide students with application support, resume building opportunities, and connection to a larger Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Community.

Students who connect with the Peace Corps Recruiter are 55% more likely to become volunteers.

In addition, MSU's Peace Corps Prep certificate program prepares undergraduates with or without education abroad experience to serve.

Also consider exploring an international major, specialization or certificate program in addition to your education abroad experience. These options can complement your current degree program or open new doors for you to discover a new area of study.
