Welcome Back Receptions for Summer 2005 UK Participants

The Office of Study Abroad invites all United Kingdom study abroad program participants to attend a Welcome Back Reception on Thursday, September 1 from 3:00-4:30 PM or Tuesday, September 6 from 5:00-6:30 PM. Both events will be held on the 3rd floor of the International Center. Light refreshments will be provided.

We hope these receptions will give students an opportunity to re-connect with other program participants. We also recognize that many students that were in London during the bombings of the mass transit system, have a unique perspective on the MSU response to the bombings. We are very interested in hearing student perspectives, including any ideas or suggestions students might have as to how MSU can best prepare for and respond to such emergencies. Kathleen Fairfax, Director of the Office of Study Abroad, will give a brief overview of MSU's response to the events from this end, and staff from the office will be on hand to receive feedback and discuss concerns. In addition, we have invited the Counseling Center to give a short presentation about post-traumatic stress and discuss the resources available to students who feel they need additional support.

We look forward to seeing all participants on September 1 or September 6. Students that are unable to attend either event and would like more information about post traumatic stress should contact the Counseling Center at 355-8270 . Students that would like to talk to a staff member in the Office of Study Abroad regarding emergency preparedness and response, and cannot attend the above events, should contact our office at 353-8920 to make an appointment.
