Details about Scheduling and Advertising Program Information Meetings

Everything You Need to Know About Information Meetings

A composite ad for study abroad information meetings is run once a week in The State News. The ad runs on Mondays and lists all information meetings for that week.

In order for your meeting to be included in the composite ad on Monday, the information about your meeting must be received by 5 pm of the previous Tuesday. To ensure the most comprehensive promotion of your meeting, we will need to receive the information two weeks prior to the event.

Here's how to set up your information meeting:

Contact Chris Barden (2-8785) and provide the following information:

  • your name
  • the name of your program
  • the date, time, and location of your meeting*
  • whether or not you'd like to receive an information packet for your meeting (information packets contain info sheets for your program, financial aid handouts, and a reference sheet for program leaders)

We will promote your information meetings via The State News, the OSA Web site, the MSU adviser listserv, and the bulletin board outside the OSA office. We will also help with room arrangements, if needed.

Other resources:

  • OSA can often arrange to have a Peer Adviser attend your information meeting to help with questions about the study abroad application and acceptance process. Faculty leading programs for the first time will have priority for this service.
  • OSA has developed a reference sheet for faculty listing questions frequently asked by students
  • As always, feel free to refer students to the OSA Resource Room – 108 International Center – where they can speak with a Peer Adviser Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.

* Popular times for info meetings are noon, 4 pm, 4:30 pm, 5 pm, and 7 pm Monday through Thursday and noon on Friday. Suggested locations include centrally-located classroom buildings, or buildings frequently used by students in a targeted major or college.
